Liposomes
LIPOSOMES are extremely small vesicles mainly composed by phospolipids organised in a bilayer. These vesicles contain an internal watery phase and are suspended in an external watery phase.
What are they used for ?
LIPOSOMES are basically used to transport the active principles in a very selective manner.
Depending on its nature, the active may be incorporated inside the liposome (hydrophilic) or in the liposoomal bilayer (lipophilic) .
Benefits
- Increased efficiency and decreased toxicity of the encapsulate active ingredient.
- Long-lasting activity.
- Better absortion, penetration and difusion.
- Possibility of alternative routes of administration.
- Stabilization of the active principle.
